What is Aspergers?

Aspergers is a development disorder that affects children’s social and communication skills.  Aspergers is on the Autism Spectrum Disorder and is often more common than other ASD.  It can be difficult to diagnose Aspergers because it has similar signs of other disorders.

Unfortunately some kids with Aspergers Syndrome are 1st misdiagnosed with another problem such as ADHD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.”

Researchers say that Einstein and Newton were probably High Functioning Aspergers.  Because Asperger children are above average for intelligence.

Common Signs

- lack of eye contact

-show obsessive behaviors in a particular subject

-normal to above average intelligence

-do not have a lot of friends due poor social skills

-repetitive or eccentric behaviors

-talented in a particular areas ( Science, math, music,writing, and ect.)

- not very coordinated, clumsy, and awkward

-high vocabular 

-talk in literal terms

-inappropriate behavior

 Asperger children may have different signs.  It is important to have your child evaluated by a professional to diagnose Aspergers.  We can not diagnose your child.
